Nisar, Irfan meet PM, discuss Taliban talks

prsISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Chauhdry Nisar Ali and peace negotiator Irfan Siddiqui met Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Sunday to review the current situation about the dialogue process.

They briefed the Prime Minister about the latest updates of talks with the Taliban dialogue Committee.

According to sources, Irfan Siddiqui briefed the prime minister about the talks, saying that Taliban were told that terrorist attacks were unacceptable during the negotiations. The meeting held initial consultation on the possible ceasefire. During the meeting Chaudhry Nisar briefed the prime minister about the recent terrorism incidents in country especially about the blast, which targeted the Khushal Khan Khatak Express near Kashmore on Sunday.

Chaudhry Nisar also briefed the prime minister about his meeting with the MQM leadership during the recent visit of Karachi and also briefed the prime minister about the steps taken for overcoming the unrest in Karachi.

On this occasion, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said that how could talks move forward if terrorism continued in the country.
