Afghan forces kill six Pakistanis in Balochistan border area

afghanZHOB: At least six Pakistanis were killed when Afghan border security personnel opened fire in an area close to the Pak-Afghan border in Balochistan, officials said.

At least, 20 persons were injured in the incident in the wee hours of Wednesday which took place in the Pak-Afghan border area of Qamar Din Karez, around 400 kilometres from Zhob city.

The deceased were identified as Mullah Fateh Noor, Zahir Khan, Muhammad Ameen and Mir Dad, all belonging to Lawoon tribe.

“The indiscriminate fire opened by Afghan security forces left six tribesmen of Lawoon tribe living in Qamar Din Karez area of Zhob district located along Pak-Afghan border,” official sources said, adding that the injured included one Levies Force personal. The attackers fled the scene after retaliation by Pakistani security forcers.

The injured and deceased were shifted to nearby hospitals while the sources feared that the toll may rise.

A district administration officer said that the cause behind the firing could not be ascertained. He however said that the Afghan forces opened fire without any provocation.

No official statements regarding the incident have so far been issued from either the Pakistani or Afghan foreign ministries.
