KARACHI, (SANA): Balochistan National Party Mengal (BNP-M) chief Akhtar Mengal arrived in Karachi from Dubai on Monday and demanded right of self-determination for the people of Balochistan like the demand of the Kashmiris for the right of self-determination.
“If right of self-determination could be demanded for Kashmir, why not for Balochistan,” he said while talking to media at Karachi airport.
He said that unfortunately there is no improvement in the Balochistan situation. “Balochistan still continues to bleed,” adding that the Hazaras were being oppressed in the same manner as the oppression faced by the Baloch.
He added said the killers of Hazaras can be traced back to the killers of the Baloch people.
Akhtar Mengal said that he has convened a meeting of his party on Tuesday to discuss future course of action.
To a question, Akhtar Mengal denied that he has returned from abroad on the request of Balochistan’s Caretaker Chief Minister.
Earlier, there were reports that Balochistan caretaker Chief Minister Nawab Ghous Bakhsh Barozai had talked to Akhtar Mengal on phone and urged all political parties to come forward to improve socio-economic and political situation in the province.
A large number of supporters were gathered outside Jinnah International Airport Karachi to receive the Baloch nationalist leader after his return from Dubai.
It is worth mentioning here that the chief of the BNP-M landed in Karachi amid pressures from Baloch separatists and radical nationalists calling on him to boycott the 2013 elections.
Akhtar Mengal’s arrival came six months after he appeared before the Supreme Court demanding the immediate cessation of the security establishment’s kill and dump policies in Balochistan.
