ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has assured that all the parliamentary leaders will be invited for a meeting to discuss the way forward and options to deal with the issue of terrorism. Nawaz Sharif said improvement in the policy could be brought after receiving the input of all members of parliament. He said government is not confused on the matter dealing with the terrorism issue. He said that PML-N has learnt lesion from the past mistakes, adding that the democracy is the only solution of problems facing by the country.
Responding to a point of order raised by Leader of the Opposition Syed Khurshid Ahmed Shah in the National Assembly on Wednesday‚ he said that there is no confusion in ranks of government about dealing with terrorism and he would like to seek suggestions from the parliamentary leaders on the matter. He said if the speech of Chaudhry Nisar has created any confusion it would be removed. Nawaz said he assures the opposition leader that the government will take opposition on board. He said that the input of all parties would be included in the policy.
He said the government dialogue committee kept media informed about the dialogue process. Appreciating the Interior Minister for preparing a comprehensive national security policy‚ the Prime Minister said that this is not a final document and useful recommendations from the opposition and government benches could be incorporated in it.
He said this is not the policy of any political party but of the state and every body should contribute to further improve it. He said that the proposed policy draft is not the last word, adding that the practicable suggestions of the parliamentarians would be included in the policy.
Nawaz Sharif said that solution of country’s all problems lies in democracy. He said that the atmosphere of the house is changed from the past 25 to 30 years, which should be appreciated. He said all parties have struggled for democracy, rule of law and restoration of judges and independence of judiciary. Nawaz said they talk in careful manner.
He said that they have learnt lesion from the past mistakes, adding that the policy should be discussed at length. Prime minister also appreciated the efforts of Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan for the preparation of national security policy.
Earlier‚ Syed Khurshid Shah said the opposition parties should stand by the government for the security of the country.
He said they will not take any step which is contrary to democratic norms and can adversely affect the integrity of the country. Khurshid Shah said that the government is confused over the matter of operation and dialogues, adding that no one know what government is intending to do. He said the matters are being kept secret, adding that no one knows about the dialogue process and about the position of government over the matter. He said that the prime minister should inform the house about the factual position.
