Altaf deplores extra-judicial killing of worker
Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) Chief Altaf Hussain condemned in strong words the killing of party worker Muhammed Adil in police torture. In a statement issued here, he said the law-enforcement agencies trampled the law and the Constitution under their feet in Karachi, adding the unjustifiable arrests of MQM workers, extreme torture on them and their extra-judicial killings, are serious and gross violations of human rights. It should be noted here that Muhammed Adil, an MQM worker was lifted by law-enforcers on February 8 and returned to his family on the same day but in near-death state. His family rushed him to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where he was declared brain-dead overnight. The Muttahida chief deplored that police and law-enforcement agencies, working on prejudice and to the tune of political rivals, subject the innocent and guiltless people to extreme and inhuman torture under custody and later dump their disfigured bodies on roads. He also queried as to people with such a conduct will be termed as the country’s friends or enemies. Altaf Hussain urged President Mamnoon Hussain, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan to take notice of the martyrdom of Muhammed Adil. Meantime, he expressed condolences to the family of a missing worker Muhammed Ali over the death of his mother overnight.
