The MQM chief also criticized Imran Khan while addressing party leaders and office-bearers through telephone from London.
“Imran Khan abused me, but all of you remained silent, I can’t tolerate abuses anymore which I have been hearing for last 40 years… Select any of your seniors as new leader by this evening. I can’t continue any longer,” Altaf Hussain said, as his workers requested him to withdraw the decision.
‘Imran Khan Abused Me’
In his telephonic address, Altaf Hussain seemed unhappy with Khan for his criticism and outburst.
On Wednesday, Imran Khan launched tirade against MQM chief Altaf Hussain, and announced to hold a large public gathering in NA-246, saying the latter’s day is near.
“Like every Pharaoh, Altaf Hussain’s time has come too,” Imran said while addressing a rally in Mirpur city of Azad Kashmir.
Altaf Hussain said Khan abused and blamed him for being a coward living in London for last two decades. “He called me timid and murder, accused that Musharraf supported MQM, but Imran Khan! Didn’t you support Musharraf in his referendum?”
“My workers never took notice of it themselves which is shameful for me. Talk shows were held against me but none defended me,” he said.
Altaf Hussain claimed that efforts were being made to change results before elections in National Assembly constituency, NA-246 (Azizabad), considered as stronghold of MQM.
Various political parties, including Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, have fielded their candidates to contest election from the seat.
He warned against any pre-poll change of results. “If results were changed, it will be an outset of end of democracy,” Altaf Hussain said.
