ISLAMABAD, (SANA): Minister for Information and Broadcasting Arif Nizami has said that apprehensions about delay in elections are over and the nation is poised to exercise its right of vote today (Saturday) with enthusiasm.
He was talking to newsmen after inaugurating Post Election Complaint Cell at NADRA headquarters in Islamabad here on Friday.
The Information Minister said the possibilities of casting bogus votes have been eliminated and arrangements are in place to catch all those trying to do that.
He said the SMS service launched to get information about vote number and location of polling station has evoked huge response which shows the level of interest shown by people for elections.
The Minister said this indicates that the turn out this time would be higher than last elections.
Arif Nizami said Pakistan was achieved through ballot and this democratic right is guarantee for survival of the country.
Speaking on the occasion, Chairman NADRA Tariq Malik said that fingerprint matching will be performed at the complaint cell to assist Election Commission and Election Tribunals. He said that this information will enable Election Tribunals to make informed decisions based on concrete evidence in a timely fashion.
He said that 11.7 million voters have so far checked their vote registration information through sms 8300 service.
