PESHAWAR: Senator Azam Khan Hoti alleged on Monday that Awami National Party (ANP) leaders Asfandyar Wali Khan and Afrasiab Khattak took approximately $35 million from the United States as part of a secret agreement.
During a news conference at Peshawar Press Club, Hoti said the ANP leaders had disappeared for ten days in the US; however, he acknowledged that he had no proof against these allegations.
“Information about the ANP leaders was given by US residents.” He said that the palace of Asfandyar is being lightened with the blood of 800 pashtoons. Hoti announced to carry out ‘small blasts’ against ANP leadership.
According to Hoti, the agreement was concerned about the Taliban and also involved an Arab country.
Hoti also called Afrasiab Khattak a thief who along with Asfandyar Wali Khan had destroyed the ANP.
He alleged that a former member of National Assembly and Pakistani-born US citizen Nasim-ur-Rehman facilitated the agreement between American authorities and Asfandyar Wali.
Nasim-ur-Rehman first held a meeting with Asfandyar Wali and then met Begum Naseem Wali. A cheque was also handed over to Afrasiab Khattak, whereas, the account was in the bank of an Arab country.
He added that he had no proof for these allegations but he was tabling these facts keeping the ground realities into consideration. He said Asfandyar Wali and Afrasyab Khatack are used to travel in bulletproof vehicles but the workers are being killed in bomb blasts.
Azam Hoti is the father of former chief minister Ameer Haider Hoti and a brother-in-law of Asfandyar Wali Khan. He has previously held Asfandyar responsible for the party’s massive defeat in general elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
He has also previously said in a statement that it was necessary to separate Mr Asfandyar from the party leadership and keep him away from its affairs to save it from collapse.
Earlier this month, the party’s organising committee had terminated the party membership of the senior leader for violation of party discipline. The committee expelled the leader for leveling “baseless” allegations and using foul language against senior leadership.
