Attack on Sardar Bahadur Khan Women University Quetta claims 14 lives; gun battle in BMC claims five lives; four terrorists killed

QUETTA, (SANA): At least 14 female students were killed and over 19 others injured when the bus of SardarBahadur Khan Women University was targeted in campus. Meanwhile the injured students were shifted in Bolan Medical Complex, where an explosion was heard and then exchange of firing exchanged between forces and terrorists present in hospital. Five persons including DC Quetta Abdul Mansoor Kakar and four security personnel were killed and 17 others were injured during the operation. The commandoes of police and FC took part in the operation. The army helicopters were also used in the operation against terrorists.

CCPO Quetta Mir Zubair Mehmood talking to media said BMC has been cleared after search operation of forces. Meanwhile Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan while talking to media outside the Parliament House said four terrorists were killed, one blew himself up and one was arrested alive. He said BMC has been cleared after search operation of forces. He said 14 young students were killed and 19 others injured in the result of explosion in bus of university. He said four FC personnel and deputy commissioner Quetta were killed during operation. He said 17 other persons have also received injures.

The first bomb went off inside the bus of Sardar Bahadur Khan Women University, killing 14 students and injuring 19 others. Those injured in the deadly attack were shifted to the Bolan Medical Complex (BMC).

A few minutes later, another blast occurred inside the hospital’s emergency, killing more people. It was followed by heavy firing.

Quetta’s Deputy Commissioner Quetta Abdul Mansoor Kakar, who rushed to the hospital to visit the injured students, was killed in the second explosion. Chief Secretary Babar Yaqoob was also present on this occasion. But he survived unhurt.

Zainuddin, a reporter of CNBC Pakistan, is also among those injured in the firing. He received two bullets in his back and leg.

According to reports, doctors, patients, hospital staff and reporters were stranded inside the hospital by the terrorists.

Speaking to a private TV channel National Party Chief Mir Hasil Bazinjo condemned the twin blasts, saying that religious elements could be behind the attacks.

Assistant Commissioner Quetta Anwar Ali Shar is also reported to be injured in the incident.

The Spokesman for Chief Minister Balochistan, Jan Muhammad Beledi while talking to a private TV channel said that no group has claimed responsibility for the attack.

One suspected attacker was apprehended by law enforcement agencies from the Bolan Medical Complex. The veiled suspect was immediately taken to Barori Police Station for interrogation.

Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has strongly condemned Sardar Bahadar Khan Women University, Quetta bomb blast targeting girl students’ bus. The blast has resulted into the loss of six precious lives of girl students and injuring of several others.

Terming the bomb blast cowardly and inhuman, the Prime Minister prayed for the departed souls and fast recovery of the injured.
The Prime Minister said that such dastardly acts of cruelty on innocent Pakistani citizens are unacceptable and no effort will be spared to save Pakistan from such acts of terror.
