PESHAWAR: At least nine persons were killed and 10 others injured in result of bomb blast in a motor workshop in Scheme Chowk area of Peshawar. Five vehicles were also destroyed in the blast. The condition of three injured persons is critical. Two children also include in the killed persons. The ball bearings were also used in the blast.
The owner of the workshop was also killed in the blast. The injured have been shifted in Leady Reading Hospital. The explosive material was kept in while color aulto. 25 to 30 kg material explosive material was used in the ballast. The tower of the mobile company was the target of the blast.
SSP Peshawar Rahim Shah said that five persons were killed and six others injured in the blast. He said 25 to 30 kg material explosive material was used in the ballast.
According to details, the workshop was located at the Scheme Chowk with several other shops beside it.
Rescue and police teams immediately rushed to the site and shifted the injured to hospital.
Meanwhile, Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) team also reached the site and cordoned off it for the extraction of relative evidence.
Television footage showed that several vehicles were destroyed by the explosion and rescue workers and policemen searching through the rubble.
SP Shah said that there was a possibility that the car was being fitted with an improvised explosive device and exploded prematurely. He, however, said that BDS experts were still carrying out their investigation.
According to officials at the LRH, six bodies had been brought to the hospital.
According to reports form the site, a crater has been formed on the spot of the blast.
The area has been cordoned off by the police and the nature of the blast is not yet known.
President Mamnoon Hussain, Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan have strongly condemned the Peshawar blast and expressed grief and sorrow over the loss of precious lives. President and prime minister have directed concerned authorities to provide best medical facilities to the injured persons. Meanwhile Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar has summoned the report from the IG KPK regarding the bomb blast.
Chief Minister KPK Parvez Khan Khattack, Governor KPK Engineer Shaukatullah Khan, former president Asif Ali Zardari‚ Opposition Leader in National Assembly Syed Khurshid Shah, Amir Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) Maulana Fazalur Rehman, Chairman PTI Imran Khan, Amir Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (S) Maulana Samiul Haq, Amir Jamatud Dawa Pakistan Professor Hafiz Muhammad Saeed have also condemned the Peshawar blast and expressed sympathy with the bereaved families.
Ameer JI Syed Munawar Hasan and JI Secretary General, Liaqat Baloch, have strongly condemned the bomb blast in Peshawar resulting in heavy loss of life.
The JI leadership said the surge of terrorism in the country implied total failure of the intelligence agencies in preempting such activities.
The JI leaders prayed for those falling victim in the blast and also expressed deep sympathies with the bereaved families.
