CJ takes suo moto notice of Muzaffargarh incident
Chief Justice of Pakistan Tassaduq Hussain Jillani took suo moto notice over the incident of self-immolation of a rape victim and summoned DPO Muzaffargarh, Advocate General and IGP Punjab on 17th of March. The teenaged victim of sexual assault, who immolated herself yesterday, died of severe burn injuries this morning. In Muzaffargarh yesterday, 18-year-old student committed the act of self-immolation in protest while demanding arrest of culprits who assaulted her in January this year but were later set free by a local court. She was later admitted to Nishtar Hospital, Multan where hospital sources said that she received 80 percent burn injuries. The CJ sought detailed reports into the unpleasant incident from the police officer asking him to apprise the court as to how the investigation officer declared the accused innocent and whether the medical report confirmed the incident or not.
