KARACHI, (SANA): President Asif Ali Zardari has said that constitutionally he is enjoying powers the institutions should not forget this, adding that the attitude of the returning officers with candidates during the scrutiny of nomination papers is not right. He said that provision of cooperation for holding of transparent elections and maintaining law and order situation is the responsibility of the interim government.
He said that peaceful transfer of power after the elections would be ensured. This he said during the meetings with interim cabinet members, Interim Chief Minister justice (retd) Zahid Qurban Alvi and governor Sindh Dr Eshratul Ibad Khan at the Bilawal House. During the meetings the security during the election, political situation, provision of cooperation to election commission and other matters came under discussion.
President Zardari said that the peace environment is necessary for the holding of elections, adding that it is the responsibility of the interim government to provide conducive environment for the elections.
He said that maintaining of peace should be priority of the interim government, adding that all resources should be used for this purpose. The problems facing by the candidates were also came under consideration during the meetings.
The Cabinet members included Shakaib Qureshi‚ Nawab Qalb Hussain Lahori‚ Muhammad Shareef Ansari‚ Sardar Khan Ghoto‚ Raees Ghulam Qasim Jaskani‚ Junaid Ali Shah‚ Sardar Muhammad Yaseen Malik‚ Syed Shabbir Zaidi‚ S. Khalid Tawab‚ N. K. Luhana‚ Anis Haroon‚ Khalid Latif‚ Noor ul Huda Shah‚ Abdul Qadeer Chohan‚ Mian Zahid Hussain‚ Haroon Farooki‚ Sardar Haji Khan Chachar and Sharafuddin Memon.
Governor and Chief Minister introduced the Cabinet members to the President.
The President felicitated the Cabinet members and expressed the hope that they would contribute towards holding free‚ fair and transparent elections in the province.
