Dialogues with Taliban always witness pitfalls at outset: PM

nawazsharif-pakistan-loadshedding_6-14-2013_105254_lLONDON: Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has said that the process of dialogue with the Taliban meets with setbacks whenever it is started.

Prime Minister said that the responsibility for holding dialogue with the Taliban has been entrusted to Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan.

Speaking to media upon his arrival for participation in the World Islamic Economic Forum in London on Tuesday, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said that the dialogue process is an integral for peace in Afghanistan.

“The Afghan Taliban should join the peace council and become part of the political process,” the prime minister said.

The prime minister said: “We want to include all stakeholders in the dialogue process.” Prime minister said that Pakistan wants peace in the entire region.

“All our efforts are directed towards speeding up this process, we are serious in our efforts to hold dialogue with the Taliban,” the prime minister said.

Nawaz Sharif said that the Taliban are a reality and it is imperative for peace in Afghanistan to include Afghan Taliban in dialogues process which is in progress on the world level over the future of Afghanistan.

Commenting on Pakistan, Nawaz Sharif said that there is need to create such economic environment wherein peace and stability and there should be no terrorism so that foreign investors could make investment in Pakistan.

Prime Minister said that the responsibility for holding dialogues with the Taliban was entrusted to Interior Minister and is performing his responsibility, saying that formal dialogues process is yet to start with the Taliban.

Prime Minister said that Pakistan wants Afghan Taliban to become the part of the political process, adding that peaceful Afghanistan is in the interest of Pakistan.

He said that Pakistan should play every such role which could lead towards stability in Afghanistan, in the region and in Pakistan.

Nawaz Sharif said that the support of Arab countries is required for progress in different sectors including the energy sector in Pakistan.

He said that Pakistani living abroad take interest in making investment in Pakistan, but there is need for improvement in the over situation in the country, saying that both the government and the people should play their part for bringing improvement in the over situation in Pakistan.
