KARACHI: Chief Minister Balochistan Abdul Malik Baloch has admitted to failure over the missing persons and said he could not resolve this issue, adding that the dialogue process for the resolution of Balochistan problems could not move forward until and unless missing persons are recovered.
Addressing a press conference here, Dr Malik said he wants to resolve Balochistan’s problems by holding talks with Brahamdagh Bugti, adding that so far he has no contact with Brahamdagh Bugti but wants to hold meeting with him as soon as possible.
“We will have to work under the ambit of Constitution to resolve the challenge of law and order in Balochistan,” he said. “I have been working day and night. Positive results will be seen soon.”
The government, he said, is faced with difficulties in Makran and some other parts of Balochistan, adding that the overall condition of law and order in the province is good.
The chief minister stressed on the need to develop friendly ties with neighboring countries including India, Afghanistan and Iran for the sake of Balochistan and the country.
He also dispelled the negative impression about visiting Balochistan, adding that instead of rocket attack he spend five days in earthquake areas of Balochistan.
Baloch said the law and order situation in Balochistan had vastly improved and he wanted to ensure that the police and levies were standing on their own feet. He added that FC check posts in Quetta had been decreased by 50 percent.
The chief minister further said that Rs 40 to 50 billion were required for the rehabilitation of earthquake affectees in the province. He said the provincial and federal governments are unable to provide this huge amount, adding that he would meet Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif to discuss the matter of rehabilitation of quake affectess.
According to the Balochistan chief minister, there was a lack of government writ in some areas of the province and he hoped this would be established soon.
Commenting on the Local Bodies elections, Baloch said the orders of the Supreme Court would be implemented.
Dr Abdul Malik Baloch said his that his government will not hide their shortcomings from the public. He said that the strategy for the resolution of the Balcoh insurgency and sectarianism would be chalked out in APC, adding that all political parties would be taken into confidence. He said government wants to bring all annoyed Baloch leaders on the table of negotiations.
