The attack took place in the Dargamandi area, seven kilometers north of Miranshah which is the main town in the North Waziristan tribal region. The drones also continued flights in the area after the attack which gripped the local people into fear. The locals carried out rescue activities and brought out the dead bodies and injured persons from the debris of the house. There is fear of increase in killed persons. The identity of the killed persons has not been made yet.
The area targeted by the drone is said to be the stronghold of Afghanistan’s Haqqani network.
Earlier, at least six people were killed in a US drone strike on a suspected militant compound in North Waziristan on September 22, officials said.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Friday said that the use of armed drones in the border areas of Pakistan was detrimental to our resolve and efforts to eliminate extremism and terrorism from Pakistan.
Addressing the United Nations 68th General Assembly session at the UN headquarters, the prime minister said that the use of armed drones was a continued violation of our territorial integrity. It results in casualties of innocent civilians. “I have urged the United States to cease these strikes so that we could avert further casualties and suffering.”
