The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has decided to devise a strategy to stop the extraordinary registration of the political parties and recommendations will be sent to joint committee of the parliament for making amendments in the law in this regard.
According to ECP sources, election commission does not have the authority to conduct scrutiny of the registration process of political parties. The group of few persons is to be registered as a political party on the basis of documents presented with merely some paper work. At present 281 political parties are registered.
According to election commission, it will be recommended in the new law that the registration of the political parties will be ended which could not get 0.1 million votes and could not win even one seat in the national or the provincial assemblies.
