At least eight FC personnel were martyred and three others injured in result of terrorist attack on FC check post in Gundai area of Jamrud sub-district in Khayber Agency on Friday. Four terrorists were killed and three others were arrested in forces retaliation.
Official sources said that two vehicles were also destroyed in the attack. Heavily armed militants attacked a paramilitary check post in Jamrud area of the Khyber tribal region early Friday, killing at least eight security personnel, official sources said.
Three other security personnel were also injured and the vehicle of FC forces was completely destroyed in the attack.
Sources said more than a dozen militants attacked a Frontier Corps patrolling party and check post in Jamrud’s Gundi area, followed by a grueling gun-battle which continued for over two hours.
Security forces also claimed to have killed a number of ‘terrorists’, but the exact number of casualties could not be independently verified.
After the attack the security forces have clamped curfew in the area and door to door search operation is underway in search of terrorists.
Meanwhile At least one policeman was killed and three others were injured Friday when a remote-controlled bomb struck a police mobile in Peshawar.
According to police, a police mobile was on routine patrol in Peshawar’s Wazir Bagh area when it struck a roadside bomb that went off with a loud explosion. Subsequently, four policemen sustained injuries.
The injured police personnel were shifted to Peshawar’s Lady Reading Hospital where the Head Constable succumbed to his wounds.
Following the incident, police cordoned off the area and a search operation went under way. Later on the funeral prayer of the martyred police cop was offered in Peshawar, which was also attended by IG police Nasir Khan Durrani.
