Election Commission forms 9 tribunals to hear nomination paper appeals

ISLAMABAD, (SANA): The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has formed nine tribunals to hear appeals against nomination papers for the upcoming general elections.

Five tribunals have been formed in Punjab, two in Sindh and one each in Peshawar and Quetta

Appeals from NA-48 and 49 which are Islamabad constituencies will be heard by the Rawalpindi tribunal.

Following the scrutiny of nomination papers which will conclude on April 7, the Election Commission has set April 10 as the deadline for the filling of appeals against decisions of the returning officers.

The Election Tribunals will decide the fate of these appeals by April 17 and candidates will be allowed to withdraw their nominations by April 18.

The ECP will publish the final revised list of candidates on April 19 which will follow the holding of elections on May 11.
