Ever-elusive killers gun down another 7 in Karachi
Heavy presence of security personnel around the metropolis, seems to have failed in silencing the firearms of saboteurs who took lives of another seven people including senior lawyer Waqar-ul-Hasan Shah yesterday. The most recent incident took place in the metropolis late last night in Golimar where some unidentified miscreants opened gunfire, killing a man and injuring two others. The senior lawyer of high court, who was a leader of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) lawyers’ wing, was fatally ambushed as he was on his way to the court at a distance of several furlongs from his residence on board his car. Shah was rushed to a nearby hospital but, was proclaimed dead there. The body was dispatched to Jinnah Hospital for medico-legal procedures. The PML-N’s and lawyer leaders also thronged the hospital. They said the deceased’s name was sent to the Prime Minister for the slot of deputy attorney general. Mourning over the death, the lawyers boycotted the judicial proceedings and protested against the assassination. Meantime, Chief Justice of Sindh High Court (SHC) Justice Maqbool Baqar, taking notice of the murder, summoned a report from Inspector General of Sindh Police Iqbal Mehmood.
