Five power towers blown up in KPK

kpkMiscreants blew up five electricity towers near Peshawar and Mardan cities of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa late on Sunday, suspending power supply to the National Grid.

According to National Transmission and Dispatch Company (NTDC) chief, Masood Khan, the explosions took place last night in Peshawar and Mardan town where miscreants set off explosive material and blew up two major transmission lines.

He said three towers of 500 KV Sheikh Mohammadi Peshawar-Tarbela Transmission line and three towers of 220 KV Sheikh Mohammadi Daud Khel were blown up by terrorists.

The NTDC chief said the damage to power lines caused 150 MW shortfall to the national grid.

Masood Khan said electricity was being supplied through alternate means.
