HANGU: The father of Aitzaz Hasan, the teenage boy who sacrificed his life by stopping a suicide bomber from entering his school told media on Saturday that the family had not been contacted by any government official. Meanwhile Brigadier Nadeem Zaki Manj, Local Commander in Hangu, visited the grave of young student Aitezaz Hussain (Shaheed), who sacrificed his life to save hundreds of his school fellows from a suicide attack, laid a floral wreath on behalf of COAS and offered Fateha.
He also conveyed Chief of Army Staff, General Raheel Sharif’s rich tributes to the bereaved family on the bravery and sacrifice of Aitezaz Hussain. Chief of Army Staff said that Nation is proud of this young Hero who has set a sterling example of bravery and sacrifice at a young age of 15 years and has sacrificed his today for our better tomorrow. Floral wreaths were also laid on the grave of Aitzaz on behalf of Corps Commander Peshawar Lt. General Khalid Rabbani and Inspector General Frontier Coprs Major General Ghayur Mahmood.

On Friday, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif recommended that Aitzaz be awarded the Sitara-e-Shujaat. The prime minister forwarded his recommendation to President Mamnoon Hussain.
Aitzaz a student of class IX sacrificed his life on January 6 when he prevented a suicide bomber from entering the premises of his school during the morning assembly. Aitzaz’s brave act resulted in the lives of several students being saved.
The brave student was on his way to school when he spotted a suspicious person. When Atizaz called out to this person, he started walking faster towards the school. In an effort to stop the attacker, Aitzaz threw a rock which failed to hit him. This is when Aitzaz ran towards the person and grabbed him, prompting the suicide bomber to detonate his explosive laden vest.
Aitzaz’s bravery has been widely praised both on traditional and social media with several hashtags on twitter trending in Pakistan calling for his heroics to be recognized.
