ISLAMABAD, (SANA): Chief Election Commissioner Fakhruddin G Ebrahim has saidthat all arrangements had been finalized for the holding of elections in the country, adding that the government is responsible for maintaining law and order situation during the elections.
Chief Election Commissioner Fakhruddin G Ebrahim while addressing the high level meeting of ECP said the commission has completed all preparations to hold free, fair and transparent elections, adding that in case the law and order situation does not improve, it would become difficult to administer a free and fair election.
He said it was the responsibility of the federal and provincial governments and law enforcement agencies to improve the country’s security situation. CEC said that the personnel of the army and all other law enforcement agencies would be deployed at the Karachi and Quetta polling stations.
Ebrahim while speaking to reporters at his office added that the government and all others responsible for security had assured the ECP that the law and order situation would improve. According to Ebrahim the commission was ready to hold transparent elections if law and order was ensured.
The ECP held a meeting to evaluate the law and order situation and the printing of ballot papers.
According to ECP spokesman, the meeting chaired by CEC Ebrahim discussed violations of the code of conduct and steps taken to provide overseas Pakistanis voting facilities.
