ISLAMABAD: Amir Jamat-e-Islami Pakistan, Syed Munawar Hasan on Tuesday said that the government, from the day first, was non-serious in holding talks with the Taliban. He said that the government should be empowered to move towards dialogues with the Taliban.
He said that there must be meaningful dialogues with the Taliban, saying that no progress has so far been made for talks with the Taliban.
JI Ameer, Syed Munawar Hasan said that the issue of dialogues has been fully highlighted on the national level, saying that this issue of the national level and there should be progress in the matter.
He said that Interior Minister, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan wants to brief him (Syed Munawar Hasan) regarding the progress over the issue of dialogues with the Taliban.
Syed Munawar Hasan said that it is wish too to be informed as to what has been done and what is being done over the issue of dialogues with the Taliban.
He said that the misunderstandings should be removed that some forces do not want dialogues with the Taliban and dialogues cannot be held without their consent.
He said that the statement that the government should be empowered to move towards dialogues has come from the Taliban more than one time, saying that the dialogues would be fruitless if the authority is in the hands of US and the government cannot satisfy the people with the progress made in this regard.
He said that the US would have to leave Afghanistan in 2014 and it is imperative that Pakistan, Afghanistan and the US should jointly prepare a strategy, saying that it is not necessary the objectives of Pakistan would be similar to the objectives of Afghanistan and the US.
Syed Munawar Hasan said that every issue is resolved at the time when it is implemented. He further said that 180 million are waiting for the dialogues to be held with the Taliban and the government should be empowered to hold dialogues with the Taliban.
He said that it is true that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Nawaz Sharif has admitted the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)’s mandate in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and other party’s Chief Minister in the Balochistan, but he Nawaz sharif should have sit with the provincial government and he should have talks with the provincial government over the issue of terrorism for providing full assistance to the provincial government.
He said that there is no solution of any issue in the world other than dialogues and Pakistan has suffered much while being intoxicated with the vision of having power, saying that Pakistan has lost half of the country with the use of power.
Syed Munawar Hasan said that he asks army to give up the operation and they should not make the East Pakistan like Bangladesh, saying that military operation created differences between the army and the people and seeds of hatred are sown.
He said that India is involved in attacks on the mosques and the seminaries, saying that India and the US both are spreading disorder in Pakistan.
He said that PML-N should respect the mandate and it should fulfill its promises made during the electioneering. He said that it is not the job of the government to distribute laptops and give loans, saying that the job of the government is to strengthen the institutions.
