Govt-Taliban talks hit snag after killing of 23 FC personnel

talibnISLAMABAD: The government’s dialogue committee cancelled its planned meeting with Taliban negotiators on Monday in protest against alleged killings of FC soldiers by Mohmad Agency Taliban.

Meanwhile‚ Coordinator of the government committee Irfan Siddiqui said an emergency meeting of government dialogue committee has been summoned today (Tuesday).

He said the meeting will discuss the current situation and future course of action.

He said the committee has deplored and condemned the killing of FC personnel saying such incidents will hamper the process of serious and result oriented negotiations.

Sources said that the government committee soon after the tragic news of Taliban beheading the kidnapped FC men went into session mulling over the emanating situation and the government committee was expected to release a statement any time.

Sources said that the Taliban committee would be asked to explain their position over these inhuman killing of FC men.

A faction of Banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (Mohmand Agency) on Sunday claimed the killing of 23 FC personnel who were kidnapped in June 2010 from Shoonkri Post in tribal region of Mohmand Agency.
