The minister also appealed to Qadri not to poison impressionable minds into colliding with the government.
Govt ties FIR to end of PAT protest
ISLAMABAD: Minister for Railways, Khwaja Saad Rafique, says the government will have the Model Town massacre case lodged against all the accused, nominated by Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT), if Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri calls his followers off the protest outside Parliament House,
“We are ready to have police register a baseless First Inspection Report (FIR) against us but for this to happen Dr Qadri will have to let thousands of innocent people go home”,.
The ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN) minister also offered investigation into the case by any officer of Qadri’s choosing.
Rafique added the government had even cast before Qadri the resignations of all the ministers he wanted to go.
“Our bid met with rejection. And what he demanded of us was too much for us to offer”, said Rafique.
To a question, he said Qadri was only asked to strike a few names out of the list of accused but he did not even consider our entreaty.
Minister for Information, Pervaiz Rashid, weighed in that Qadri should unloose the protestors he had been holding hostage to his unconstitutional agenda.
“Withdrawal of the innocent people especially women and children from this standoff is the only condition we have urged him to meet so far”, Rashid said.
