ISLAMABAD, A (SANA): The Higher Education Commission has confirmed 56 degrees of former parliamentarians and remaining 134 likely to disqualify after end of confirmation time on Friday night.
PML-N leader Chauhdry Nisar Ali Khan, PPP leaders Khursheed Shah and Samsam Bukhari, and PTI leader Javed Hashmi have been cleared by the HEC but remaining 144 members may will be disqualified if their degrees will not be confirmed within next few hours.
The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has verified educational certificates of 56 ex-legislators, including Syed Khursheed Shah, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Javed Hashmi and Samsam Bukhari, Dewan Ashiq Hussain Bukhari, Rana Nazir Ahmed Khan, Engineer Amir Muqam, Afrasayab Khattak, Syed Alauddin, Ghulam Bibi Bharwana, Pir Kashif Ali Chishti, Naseer Bhutta, Ghuam Farid Kathia, out of a total of 189.
Now the remaining 159 ex-parliamentarians have time till Friday midnight to get their academic record verified or otherwise face disqualification.
HEC has not cleared up till now degrees of Faisal Saleh Hyat, Manzoor Watto, Shumaila Rana, Noman Langrial, Qasim Zia, Nadia Gabol, Azmat Khan, Bilal Yaseen, Samina Khalid, Rukhsana Bangash, Saifuddin Khosa, Roy Mujtaba Kharal and several others.
It is pertinent to mention that in accordance with the orders of the Supreme Court of Pakistan, the HEC through a public notice had given ex-legislators April 5th deadline to verify their degrees. HEC offices will remain open till Friday midnight for the verification purpose.
Former parliamentarians’ degrees scrutiny process is underway with rapid pace at the Higher education Commission as it has given final time, through a public notice, for confirmation of degrees till this midnight under Supreme Court’s orders.
