ISLAMABAD, LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman, Imran Khan said an incremental increase in military action will lead to a large scale military operation with revenge attacks and ensuing increase in chaos, militancy and terrorism.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf will stage rally at the Mall Road in Lahore today (Sunday) against the price spiral and other problems facing by the country.
In a statement, Imran Khan said if the government wanted to launch an operation in North Waziristan Agency it should take the people into confidence.
According to the PTI chairman, civilians especially women and children had become the target of drone strikes and military action would increase the suffering of people in the tribal region.
“We cannot regard our women and children of FATA with the callousness and unconcern that is presently being displayed towards them by the state of which they are citizens.”
Khan reminded that since FATA is directly under the President, it is unfathomable why he remains silent on the plight of the people of FATA The PTI chairman demanded the President act to alleviate the suffering of the women and children especially by providing immediate food supplies and medical assistance as well as protection against military action.
Already civilians, especially women and children, have been innocent victims of drone attacks and now military action is causing more suffering on these innocent victims of a war they are not responsible for. “We cannot regard our women and children of FATA with the callousness and unconcern that is presently being displayed towards them by the state of which they are citizens” he said.
Meanwhile addressing a press conference Imran Khan has said that ratio of price hike is the highest in Pakistan comparatively to other countries of Asia. He said that the rulers are following the policies of the IMF. He said that the prices of everything including oil and electricity have increased, adding that if today the masses will not come out from homes then the situation would become further worsen.
He said that the government is providing benefit to the tax evaders, adding that the ministers are issuing wrong statements. He said the PTI could not be affected from the statements of ministers, adding that the worst kind of rigging was done in general elections.
He appealed to his supporters to massively participate in the protest sit-in against price-hike in Lahore tomorrow afternoon. He said if public does not come out‚ then there will be more price hike.
He asked the Punjab government not to create any hurdle in way of the sit-in.
To a question‚ Imran Khan said that he will continue to support the campaign against polio in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Meanwhile Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has finalized its plans to take out a rally in Lahore against price hike today (Sunday) at the Mall Road in Lahore.
The PTI has decorated the city with banners inviting people to join their protest against the government’s failure to check soaring prices.
PTI Chairman Imran Khan will himself lead the rally and address his supporters in front of Punjab Assembly building.
PTI has also set up a welcoming camp while workers are busy in arranging party flags.
Prominent PTI leaders will speak to demonstrators from a special truck.
Although district administration has allowed the PTI to hold a gathering at Nasir Bagh, it will rally on Mall Road.
Meanwhile, the Punjab government has no intention to stop the PTI from staging the rally on Mall Road despite a ban.
