ISLAMABAD, (SANA): Pakistan Tehreeke-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan has taken oath as Member NationalAssembly. Speaker NA Sardar Ayaz Sadiq administered the oath of Imran Khan. Imran has retained NA 56 seat. In his address in NA Imran said the biggest cause of all ills of the country is injustice. He emphasized on forming consensus policy on national issues. He said consensus policy should be formulated for stopping drone strikes in Pakistan.
He also congratulated Nawaz Sharif on becoming Prime Minister. He said revenue collection is biggest problem of country. He said there would be price spiral in country after the imposition of new tax in budget. He said independent judiciary and election commission of Pakistan should take notice of the rigging in elections.
Imran Khan said a policy should be framed to address the issue of terrorism. He said the government and the opposition should be on the same page on this menace, which has claimed lives of our civilians and security personnel besides denting the national economy.
Opposing drone strikes, Imran Khan said the government and the opposition should work together to bring an end to the drone strikes. He said we cannot remain silent on this issue and serious and collective efforts are required to address the issue as the human rights groups in the US have already started raising voice against the drone strikes.
He said his party will extend full support to the government on national issues as these can only be resolved through consensus.
He said God Almighty has blessed Pakistan with different resources including gold, copper and coal and responsibility rests with all of us to put the country on the right track.
Imran Khan emphasized the need for restructuring of tax system to enhance tax collection. He, however, said that taxes imposed in the current budget will further increase poverty and price-hike.
On corruption, Chairman Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf said National Accountability Bureau should be made an autonomous to ensure its credibility. He said his government in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa will establish an anti-corruption bureau. This bureau will be authorized to make accountable the sitting ministers.
Imran Khan stressed the need for de-politicizing the institutions for bringing improvement in the governance system. He said Local Body system should be introduced for the devolution of powers at the gross-root level. He said his party’s government in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa will hold Local Body elections within ninety days by using the biometric system.
He said reforms should be introduced in the electoral process for the future of democracy in the country. He demanded Election Commission of Pakistan to constitute an independent committee to probe into irregularities in the recent polls. He said election commission should also be depoliticized.
Imran Khan also appealed to the Chief Justice of Pakistan to take notice of irregularities in the polls. At the end of the speech Imran Khan congratulated Sardar Ayaz Sadiq on becoming speaker National Assembly. It is worth mentioning here that Sardar Ayaz Sadiq had defeated Imran Khan on NA-122 Lahore.
