TEHRAN, (SANA): The Sunni population of the Iran has congratulated the newly-elected Iranian President DrHasan Rohani and hoped that the newly-elected President would ensure the freedom of individual and freedom of expression according to the constitution.
The representative organization of the ‘Ahle Sunnah , ‘Jamat Tahwat wa Islah’ issued a statement demanding of the government to implement the articles 26, 24 and 27 of the constitution, in which guarantee has been given for formation of political parties, journalism and freedom of expression.
It was said in the statement that 35 years have passed after the revolution in the country but the basic articles of the constitution has so far not been implemented and now the time has come that reformist government of Iran should announce to give basic rights to the people.
It was demanded in the statement that the government should first pay heed towards the declining economic situation in the country which caused the standard of living of the people to come down.
It was also said in the statement issued by the ‘Jamat Tahwat wa Islah’ that the reputation of Iran was adversely affected on the international level due to the policies of the government in the past and now it is the responsibility of the new government to restore the declining reputation of the country.
It was also demanded of the Sunni Muslims to participate in the local bodies’ elections as they participated in the presidential elections using their democratic and citizen rights.
It is pertinent to mention here that Sunni population is 20 percent in Iran which supported newly-elected President Dr Hasan Rohani.
