LAHORE, (SANA): Ameer, Jamaat-e-Islami, Pakistan, Syed Munawar Hasan has termed the Zardari government’s second letter to the Swiss authorities as a fraud and a blatant attempt to deceive the Supreme Court.
He has demanded a thorough probe into the matter, and exemplary punishment to all those found involved. He was talking to different delegations at Mansoora on Thursday.
The JI Ameer said that the discovery of the fraudulent letter written to the Swiss authorities requesting them not to open the cases against Zardari showed how the PPP regime had been deceiving the courts besides adopting the path of confrontation with the judiciary for securing the decisions in its favour.
He said corruption ranging from Rs. 10 to 15 billion had been going on in the country daily. However, no one could be punished nor were the accused even produced before the courts. In order to check corruption in the future, all those who committed such a big fraud with the apex court be dealt with an iron hand.
The JI Ameer also slated the talk of the serious threats to the country’s politics and the “drowning of the “Muslim Ummah’s Titanic” with the tightening of the noose against the MQM leader in the Imran Farooq murder case. He said that Karachi was continuously burning and dozens of people were being killed daily. However, the police and security agencies were unable to arrest the culprits. The peace of the port city had been shattered and lawlessness and extortion had ruined its economy. Therefore, the government should adopt strict measures to foil the plans of target killings and terrorism in the entire Sindh, especially Karachi and Hyderabad.
Meanwhile, JI Secretary General Liaquat Baloch has strongly reacted to MQM chief Altaf Hussain’s outburst about Pakistan’s future and said that all those talking ill of the country would drown in the sea of their own misdeeds.
In a statement here on Thursday, he said that Altaf Hussain had been quite upset since the assassination of his party man Imran Farooq, and with the step by step revelation of the facts, his worries were increasing. He said that Imran Farooq had been murdered in London and investigation was being carried out by the British institutions and not the Pakistani agencies. Therefore, there seemed to be little chance that the assassins could be saved from prosecution.
Liaquat Baloch said that the people of Karachi and Hyderabad had deep love and lasting attachment with Islam and Pakistan, and the future of the country was quite secure. However, time was near when these people would find themselves free from oppression, target killings, extortion.
The JI leader further said that the constitution, democracy and independent judiciary were gaining strength in the country. He said that all the tactics of Pervez Musharraf and Asif Ali Zardari to save their ill gotten wealth wont work.
He said it was the testing time for the government and the judiciary and they must go by the constitution and the law, and added that even handed justice alone could guarantee the supremacy of the constitution and the law.
