ISLAMABAD, (SANA): Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) have held preliminary consultations for cooperation in government formation; meanwhile JUI-F has put the condition of broader coalition for joining PML-N government. The JUI-F has expressed its desire to hold consultation over cooperation at centre and Balochistan level.
A three member delegation of PML-N, led by Raja Zafarul Haq and comprising Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry and Khawaja Muhammad Khan Hoti met JUI-F leadership in Islamabad Saturday and formally invited JUI-F to join the Government.
Later, talking to newsmen, Raja Zafarul Haq and Maulana Fazlur Rehman said there was progress in their talks.
Raja Zafarul Haq said they would inform their leadership about talks and to get further guidelines.
Asked why PML-N was inviting other parties when it has simple majority at the centre, Raja Zafarul Haq said the country is facing immense challenges and these require broad-based support for the ruling party to address them satisfactorily.
Replying to a question Maulana Fazlur Rehman said a decision would be taken on finalization of the contours of the cooperation and the objectives to be achieved. Fazal said first invitation is extended then the invitation is accepted and then the date for departure is fixed. He said that the meeting of the Central Executive Committee of the party is in progress and decision would be made soon. He said JUI-F wants to extend its cooperation for the implementation of the national policies, adding that the negotiations are underway and positive outcome is expected.
He said that the broader national coalition should be formed for the implementation of the national agenda, adding that the negotiations are underway and JUI-F is mulling over the matter that how these goals could be achieved. Replying a question Maulana Fazal said the JUI-F never demanded high posts. He said that there is no chance of dialogues with PTI, adding that Parvez Musharraf has accepted the secret agreement regarding the drone strikes. He said that the foreign minister of Musharraf era is present in PTI today, adding that there is national consensus over the drone strikes in the country.
The PML-N leader told a questioner that in during the Saturday’s meeting at Lahore, Army Chief General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani briefed Mian Nawaz Sharif on security issues. He said this is in line with democratic practice all over the world where elected leadership is briefed on different national issues by all concerned before assumption of power.
