Karachi violence claims 14 more lives

krachiKARACHI: At least 14 persons were killed in the ongoing violence in Karachi on Monday. Three sack-packed bodies of unknown persons were found inside a car in Gulistan-e-Johar.

According to police, the vehicle belongs to a private company and the victims were tortured to death. The bodies have been shifted to Jinnah hospital. The slain persons were brutally tortured prior to death.

Three persons were killed in shooting incident near Jhat Pat market in Chakiwara No. 2 area of Lyari. The victims were identified as Shakoor and two sons Abid and Zahid.

Another unidentified body was recovered near old truck stand in Mauri Pur. A 40-year-old Salim man was shot dead outside Karachi University.

Unknown gunmen opened fire on a taxi near a shrine in Metroville, killing a person identified as Yasir. Two persons were killed in the firing by unknown persons at North Nazimabad 5C4. The bodies were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed hospital.

On the other hand, a guard was killed while resisting a robbery at a bank situated at Khalid Bin Waleed Road while two robbers were also killed during an encounter with police.

As per details, three armed robbers tried to loot a private bank at Khalid Bin Waleed Road but the guard resisted their attempt. Over retaliation, the dacoits opened fire on the guard that killed him on the spot.

However, police chased the culprits and during exchange of fire, two robbers were killed near Soldier Bazaar.

The third culprit fled from the scene and police is currently searching for him while the area has been cordoned off.

Meanwhile, the police and Rangers continuing the targeted search operation in different areas of the metropolis, as many as 159 accused were arrested while arms and drugs were also recovered on Monday.

According to the Sindh Rangers spokesman, Rangers conducted raids in 13 different places and apprehended more than 150 accused while arms and drugs were also seized.

Areas where the Rangers conducted raids included Federal B Area, Rangarpara, Ali Barohi Goth, Lines Area, Disco Bakery, Zia Colony, Haryana Colony, Godra, Musa Colony, Quaidabad, Tariq bin Zyad Society, Zia-ul-Haq Colony and North Nazimabad. The sources said that the arrested accused were involved in several incidents of crimes.

On the other hand, West Zone police arrested 58 culprits during the last 24 hours out of which 26 are the absconders and proclaimed offenders. Drugs and weapons were also seized from their possession.

East Zone police also conducted raids and apprehended 55 accused including three extortionists, seven proclaimed offenders, 22 fugitives and three suspects during the last 24 hours. Arms, motorcycle, liquor, drugs and stolen electric wires were recovered from their possession.

South Zone police, during the last 24 hours, arrested 21 persons including 11 fugitives while ammunition, drugs and liquor were also seized from their possession.
Rangers on Monday conducted raid at the house of Ozair Baloch in Lyari and arrested eight people, Geo News reported.

The paramilitary force conducted search operation in various areas of Lyari. The Rangers also raided at the house of Lyari gangster Ozair Baloch in Sangoline area and arrested people.
