Karachi violence claims five more lives

KARACHI, (SANA): At least five persons were killed in fresh incident of violence and firing onWednesday and despite Rangers and police operation in Karachi, violence continued in the metropolis.

According to details, police said a tortured body was recovered from Gulshan-e-Sikandar in Kemari Town and another from Phool Chowk in Kharadar area of the city and the deceased was not identified.

In another incident, rescue sources said a man was shot dead in Baldia Town No.7 area of the city.

Two persons were shot dead at Mangopir Sultan Abad area of the city in another incident of violence.

Meanwhile, six shops and one car were torched as two groups over a land dispute came clashing violently near Purani Sabzi Mandi area of the cit.

According to report, following the clash the angry demonstrators torched six shops and one car, while the firing, arson and stoning continued.

Police said that the two land mafia groups over a dispute on a piece of land came clashing violently and later it turned into a free for all, as the baton wielding demonstrators opened fire, broke shutters of scores of shops, looted and torched them.

Following the incident, police took several miscreants into custody and strong contingents of police and Rangers continued patrolling the area.

Meanwhile, Police and Rangers, in a joint operation near Bilawal Chorangi Clifton, detained 25 accused and recovered huge cache of arms from their custody.

Police said that some wanted accused belonging to a political party, were also arrested. They included Guddu Bihari and others.

SSP South Nasir Aftab said that operation was launched against miscreants and 25 accused were arrested and arms were recovered in it.Investigation was underway from the accused, Nasir Aftab added.
