Khursheed advises govt to get tough on water issue

shah3SUKKUR : Opposition Leader in the National Assembly and senior member of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Seyd Khursheed Ahmed Shah on Saturday has termed construction of Kishanganga Dam a serious threat to Pakistan, which is already facing huge water crisis.

Talking to media, Shah said this is the time for the government to take strong version on the water issue.

He said that the PPP government moved forwards this appeal to the IAC and it was really a good sign the decision came in favor of Pakistan.

Shah said that Ayub Khan, former military dictator had already given three dams to India which caused serious damage to Pakistan in terms of water.

Dictator Ayub had not thought that the population of country would increase and more water would be needed in future.

He expressed his hopes on Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif that he was a Pakistani and will take the decisions according to the desires of Pakistanis.

Shah hailed the judgment of the International Court of Arbitration on Kishanganga Dam

His statement came just after the International Arbitration Court (IAC) verdict on Kishanganga Dam as it allowed India to construct the dam project, has ordered it to give half of the dam water to Pakistan, who has reservations over the project.

Peoples Party (PPP) does not demand mid-term polls in the country, Shah said adding that Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar is a wise politician and he must be thinking over his words. “There should not be a matter of ego in politics.” he said.

Opposition leader said that federal interior minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan should take his word Tamasha, adding that opposition is with the government for solution of the crisis faced by the country.

Khurshid said that Chaudhry Nisar is a senior politician and remained opposition leader in NA he should not give such remarks, adding that opposition want to move ahead with the government for betterment of the country.

Syed Khursheed Shah said that the dialogues with Taliban are necessary to meet the issue of terrorism and if dialogues can not become fruitful than other option should be used.
