LAHORE, (SANA): The Lahore High Court has banned vehicles with substandard CNG kits in theprovince; meanwhile the court has also summoned the report of Gujrat incident report on June 12. The court has said that if any incident like Gujrat would happen in future the regional transport authority would be responsible for this incident.
Lahore High Court Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial remarked that the health department was indifferent despite the horrific Gujrat incident.
The court was told during the hearing of a plea against the substandard CNG kits that they might cause a great disaster.
It was told that the Gujrat incident also occurred due to the substandard kit that led to deaths of school children.
The Chief Justice has sought a report from the Punjab government, transport department and Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority till June 10 on the matter of gas conversion kit. Chief justice said that innocents are killed but the transport authority only issues statement that they are taking action against responsible people. The chief justice addressing the officials of regional transport authority said that if any incident like Gujrat would happen in future then they would be responsible for it. The chief justice said that the regional transport authority is responsible for checking the substandard gas cylinders.
The court the vehicles should not be brought on the roads without the proper consortium. The court banned rickshaw, motorcycle, chingchi, passenger vehicles including school vans from brining them on roads without the proper consortium.
The court has also imposed on the over loading on the passengers vehicles. The court has also summoned the report of action against the substandard vehicles. Chief justice LHC also directed the advocate general Punjab to submit a detailed report in to Gujrat incident.
