On his mission to bridge the political gulf, Malik first held a meeting with his party leadership and later rang up MQM chief Altaf Hussain who refused to hold any further talks with PPP on quitting Sindh government, reports said.
MQM’s Rabita Committee (RC) has asserted that such efforts of reconciliation would yield no results. However, the ‘reconciliation specialist’ is hopeful that issues would soon be resolved.
In their meeting on Monday, Zardari and Malik discussed MQM’s decision to pull out of the Sindh government and sit on opposition benches. Bilawal Bhutto Zardari was also present in the meeting.
Malik is also likely to meet Sindh Governor Dr. Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan who announced that he has not so far accepted the resignations tendered by MQM ministers.
Muttahida resented the statement of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari regarding Altaf Hussain and that of Khursheed Shah over the word ‘Mohajir’. The PPP leader later apologized over the statement.
Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah also did not approve the resignations of the advisors and assistants belonging to MQM. –
