Mir Hassan Domkey visits Pakistan Agricultural Research Council Headquarters

ISLAMABAD, SANA): Caretaker Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research Mir Hassan Domkey visited Pakistan Agricultural Research Council Headquarters in Islamabad here on Monday.

The Minister was given a detailed briefing about the working and functions of the Council and its allied disciplines.

Chairman PARC Dr. Iftikhar Ahmad informed the Minister that various institutions are working under the Council that are rendering valuable services in research on crops, seed varieties, pests and other areas.

He said National Tea Research Institute in Mansehra is producing special variety of green tea. Similarly, research experiments are being conducted at Summer Agricultural Research Station, Kaghan to create off season wheat varieties.

He said PARC is actively collaborating with international institutions in germplasm sharing, resource sharing and human resource development, joint planning and implementation and information sharing.  Dr. Iftikhar Ahmad said new disease resistant varieties of wheat have been produced by PARC.

The Minister expressed satisfaction on the working of the Council and assured his full cooperation in resolving the various problems being faced by the organization.
