SRINAGAR, (SANA): In occupied Kashmir, All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has castigated the puppet Chief Minster, Omar Abdullah’s statement regarding use of social media in the territory.
The APHC Chairman in a statement issued in Srinagar said that it was unfortunate that the puppet administration was not even feeling ashamed of putting restrictions on the freedom of expression.
It is worth mentioning here that Omar Abdullah on Thursday indicated that the spread of rumours with malafide intention on social networking sites could not be interpreted as freedom of speech.
“This is unfortunate that Omar Abdullah is interpreting the things in such a misleading manner,” he said, adding that the people of the territory had been devoid of the basic right of expression. “We in Kashmir do not have the right to express our opinion freely. We do not have even a right to raise our voice peacefully,” Mirwaiz said and out rightly rejected the assertion of the puppet Chief Minister.
Meanwhile, the APHC Chairman also castigated the Director General Police, Ashok Prasad, for his statement that pro-liberation leaders could not be released until the situation returned to normal in the territory. “Police itself creates law and order problem. They kill innocent people which evoke reaction,” Mirwaiz said.
“Give me one instance where Hurriyat leaders have asked people to attack police posts, break the windowpanes of vehicles, attack on houses, set property on fire?” he asked. “Not even a single time Hurriyat leaders have done this but still the authorities blame them for instigating protests. Most of the pro-freedom leaders are under detention since February 9 but protests are still on. How can police say that we are instigating the people,” the APHC Chairman asserted. He pointed out that the Police was misleading the masses.
