Missing persons: ISI chief does not turn up in court
Despite court orders, head of Pakistan’s premier intelligence agency did not turn up in Islamabad High Court (IHC) hearing a case pertaining to non-recovery of missing persons. However, Defence Ministry submitted to the court a sealed report over the matter. On March 24, a single-member bench comprising Justice Riaz Ahmed Khan directed the Director General of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), Lt-Gen Zaheerul Islam, to appear before the court in response to a petition filed by spouse of a missing person, Muhammad Arif. When the hearing started today, Additional Attorney General, Tariq Khosa, informed the court that all parties in the case have filed their responses, adding that the matter of Arif was under consideration at missing persons’ commission. The court directed the commission to decide the matter at the earliest.
