KARACHI: Karachi experienced late night rain and thundershower that broke fresh spell of heat and turned the city weather pleasant, with Met Office predicting more downpour in Sindh and Balochistan during next 24 hours.
During the last 24 hours, widespread rain-thunderstorm occurred in Makran division, while at isolated places in Quetta and Kalat divisions, further intensifying cold in Balochistan.
According to Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), fresh westerly wave has entered in Balochistan and likely to grip eastern parts of the country on Friday and Saturday.
It said the weather system will cause rain-thunderstorm at scattered places in Balochistan (Kalat, Quetta, Naseerabad, Sibbi, Zhob divisions), Hyderabad, Karachi divisions, while at isolated places in Makran, Sukkur, Larkana, Bahawalpur divisions.
Isolated heavy falls are also expected in Kalat division during the period.
It said rain/thundershowers are expected at scattered places of Punjab (with isolated heavy falls in Gujranwala and Lahore divisions) Islamabad, Kashmir, upper Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan on Saturday and Sunday.
Rain-related incident: A minor girl was killed and five other family members were reportedly injured in Karachi’s Korangi area when roof of their house collapsed as a result of rain and gusty winds.
