After brief spell of loud slogans that ensued exchange of heated words, the workers from the two sides came to blows with free use of sticks and stones. Glasses of some vehicles were smashed during the affray.
MQM spokesman urged the people and workers to exercise restraint and patience, saying that MQM leader Kanwar Naveed tried to contact JI leader Rashid Naseem on phone.
The participants of the JI rally launched an attack at the MQM camp, said the spokesman.
Talking to SAMAA, JI spokesman alleged, “MQM activists assailed our rally, leaving our seven to eight workers wounded.”
Some unidentified people battered the journalists also. SAMAA’s cameraman was wounded with pelting of stone and its DSNG also was a bit damaged in the attack
