Musharraf formally arrested, sent on 14-day judicial remand in Bugti murder case

ISLAMABAD, (SANA): Quetta police has formally arrested the former president general (retd) Pervez Musharraf in Nawab Akbar Bugti murder case and special anti-terrorist court Islamabad Judge Kausar Abbas Zaidi approved 14-day judicial remand of Pervez Musharraf and handed over him to the police.

According to details, Quetta crimes branch police team including investigation officer Inspector Sardar Khan reached Islamabad on Wednesday to formally arrest Pervez Musharraf in Nawab Akbar Bugti murder case.

Quetta crimes branch police team on Thursday appeared before ATC judge Kausar Abbas Zaidi and informed the court that Pervez Musharraf has been formally arrested in Nawab Akbar Bugti murder case and requested judicial remand of Pervez Musharraf for 14 days.

The investigation officer informed the court that Pervez Musharraf could not be presented in the court due to security concerns.

The ATC judge approved 14 days judicial remand of Pervez Musharraf and directed police to make arrangements for shifting Pervez Musharraf in Quetta during the 14 days.

It is mentioning here that Pervez Musharraf is to remain at his farmhouse for the duration of the remand. The farmhouse at Chak Shahzad had earlier been declared a sub-jail.

Nawab Akbar Bugti was killed in a cave on August 26, 2006 during a military crackdown ordered by Pervez Musharraf who was president and army chief at the time.
