Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Friday chaired a high level meeting to discuss issues relating to future strategy regarding talks with the Taliban , national security and other matters including recent visit of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to India also came under discussion during the meeting.
According to a private TV channel here on Friday, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif chaired a high level meeting to discuss issues relating to national security. Chief of the Army Staff General Raheel Sharif, Director General Inter-Services Intelligence Lt. Gen Zaheerul Islam and Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan and other high officials attended the meeting.
Overall security situation in the country and the regional situation came under discussion during the meeting; Taliban talks and Nawaz Sharif’s recent meeting with new Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi came under discussion.
On the occasion, Nawaz Sharif informed the participants of the meeting regarding the telephonic call of Senator Jan Kerry, saying that they exchanged views on Pak-US relations. Prime Minister termed his meeting with the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi as positive.
It is mentioning here that Nawaz Sharif visited India to attend oath-taking ceremony of Modi, a Hindu nationalist belonging to Bharatiya Janata Party, who secured a thumping victory in India’s mammoth general election.
