According to a private TV channel the matter of peace talks with the Taliban was discussed at the meeting, and the premier also took the army chief’s views on the militant’s offer of dialogue.
The prime minister apprised the army chief of the outcome of the parliamentary party meeting. The two also reviewed measures to curb terrorism, and discussed the possibilities of a targeted operation against terrorists.
The prime minister directed the army chief to take every possible step to overcome the menace of terrorism.
He said that those targeting innocent civilians and security forces should be given a befitting reply.
The army chief told PM Nawaz Sharif that effective action has been taken against militants in North Waziristan and terrorist hideouts have been targeted in the action of forces. The Army Chief briefed Prime Minister about situation on the borders. The army chief also informed the prime minister that the effective steps have been taken for stopping illegal movement at the Pak-Afghan border.
