ISLAMABAD, (SANA): Chief of the Army Staff, General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani called on Prime Minster Muhammad Nawaz Sharif at the Prime Minister’s Office here on Thursday. During the meeting overall security situation of the country and matters relating to national security came under discussion.
During the meeting, the army chief briefed the PM about the overall security situation in the country.
Matters relating to national security also came under discussion during the meeting.
Meanwhile Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has prohibited parliamentarians, federal ministers and other officials from going on unnecessary foreign tours.
According to sources, Prime Minister Sharif has directed concerned departments to ensure that there is a 30 percent decrease in foreign tours. Directives have also been given to seek permission from the concerned authority prior to the tour. Federal Ministers will require permission from the Prime Minister, MNAs from the Speaker of the House and Senators from Chairman Senate.
The prime minister secretariat has prepared a summary in this regard which also includes recommendation to decrease the cost of foreign tours by 40 percent.
Meanwhile Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has said that political parties in Balochistan have demonstrated maturity by electing a Chief Minister with consensus. This will go a long way in surmounting the challenges faced by the province, he added.
The Prime Minister made these observations while talking to Sardar Sanaullah Zehri, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister who called on him at the Prime Minister’s Office.
The Prime Minister expressed the confidence that Mr. Zehri would strive for peace, progress and stability in Balochistan.
Meanwhile Chief of Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Tahir Rafique Butt called on Prime Minster Muhammad Nawaz Sharif at the Prime Minister’s Office.
The Air Chief briefed the Prime Minister about professional matters relating to Pakistan Air force.
