NEELUM-JHELUM, (SANA): Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif has said that he would himself present powerpolicy before people within twenty days in an address to nation. He said that the economic future of world relies on South Asia, adding that there is no lack of resources but the real challenge is to take benefit from the opportunities.
Talking to media-persons during his visit to the site of Neelum-Jhelum Hydro-Power Project, he said directions have been given for completion of the project one year ahead of the deadline of 2016.
He said the project already got much delayed and as a consequence its cost has gone up seven times. He said its original cost was just 40 billion but it has now escalated to 275 billion rupees.
The Prime Minister said despite financial constraints, necessary resources would be made available for power projects. He said had previous governments been serious about implementation of such projects, the country would not have witnessed the power crisis.
Mian Nawaz Sharif said a Government team would proceed to China on 24th of this month for talks on Gawadar-Kashghar railway link. He aid if succeeded, this project would prove to be game changer in Asia and attract immense investment in the region.
Replying to a question he said the Government would tackle the issue of terrorism by creating employment opportunities and reducing poverty and ignorance. He said concerted efforts are being made to address the issue of terrorism. While replying to a question over prevailing situation in Balochistan, the premiere vowed to eliminate terrorism for economic development and said that they are not afraid of terrorism.
He said that the government would strengthened the economy of the country, adding that the PML-N government bring change in country.
Earlier, the Prime Minister directed the concerned authorities to speed up the pace of work on Neelum-Jhelum Hydel Power Project to save the people from load shedding.
On this occasion, the Prime Minister was briefed about salient features of the project. He was told that the project is being constructed with the financial and technical assistance of China.
The Prime Minister was told that work on the project was initiated in 2008 and is expected to be completed by 2016 and after completion; it will add about 970 megawatt electricity to the national grid. According to a private TV channel Mian Nawaz Sharif showed dissatisfaction over the briefing and showed annoyance on the WAPDA officials.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif warned on the occasion that all should work with zeal and promptly as delay in any project will not be tolerated at all.
The Prime Minister was received at the helipad near Majohi in Muzaffarabad district by the AJK President Sardar Muhammad Yaqub Khan, Prime Minister Chaudhry Abdul Majeed, Opposition Leader in AJK Farooq Haider Khan and Cabinet Ministers on his arrival.
The Prime Minister was accompanied by the Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs Barjis Tahir, Federal Minister for Water and Power Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Chairman WAPDA, former finance minister Shaukat Tarin and others.
