Talking to media after oath-taking, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, who likely to be assigned the portfolio of Interior Minister, said the law and order situation is dismal but they would work sincerely to improve it. Nisar said he will not use improper language against anyone and will not level allegations against anyone.
He assured the nation that the new Government would work day and night to safeguard life and property of citizens. He said the task is challenging but they are determined to address the law and order situation effectively. He said that the negotiation committee would be set up after holding consultation with all parties for starting dialogue process in FATA. He said that federal capital would be made model district of the country, adding that the Islamabad would be made role model in every form for the whole country.
He said that no controversial person would be appointed at any subordinate department of the interior minister and no subordinate institution would be allowed to become controversial. He said that the appointments in the interior ministry would be made on merit. Nisar said he will hold meeting of the ministry today (Saturday) and meanwhile the meeting of the subordinate departments of the ministry would be held on Monday during which they would be given guidelines for future.
Ch. Nisar Ali Khan said the Federal Government would provide complete support to non-PML-N provincial governments in Sindh and KPK and their call for cooperation would be responded to promptly.
Senator Pervez Rashid, who is expected to get portfolio of Information and Broadcasting, said the Government would not hide anything from the masses and there would be complete transparency in running the Ministry.
He acknowledged that there were tremendous difficulties but added that people would appreciate things if they are taken into confidence and they see that national resources are spent judiciously.
To a question he said the PML(N) Government in Punjab got Access to Information law passed from the provinicial assembly and there is no reason the same is not done at the federal level now.
Pervez Rashid also gave assurance that secret fund would not be used for personal or political gains. He pointed out that not a single rupee of the secret fund was utilized in Punjab during the last five years.
Replying to a question he said heads of public sector corporations would be appointed through a transparent process and strictly on merit from amongst competent people. He said an advertisement for the purpose has already been published inviting applications from Pakistani nationals at home and abroad. He said the applications would be processed by a firm of international repute and selections would be made from amongst the candidates shortlisted by that company.
He told a questioner that Maulana Fazlur Rehman has introduced a new political culture as his talks with PML(N) were not based on give and take of ministries but on principles.
To a question Senator Pervez Rashid said Radio Pakistan is a national institution and it has its own responsibilities and importance. He said it is not supposed to be an income earning organization.
Likely Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said there are a host of issues like economic recession, energy crisis, tax collection, investment, law and order and terrorism but the Federal Cabinet consists of competent people who would resolve these problems. He said domestic consumer would get priority in the use of gas followed by power sector.
