ISLAMABAD, (SANA): Punjab Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif Saturday stressed on holding of consultations with all the parties for the induction of caretaker set up and that the People’s Party should desist from suggesting names that lack public confidence, adding that principally PML-N agreed with the idea of same-day dissolution of assemblies but no agreement has been reached in this regard.
Addressing a press conference hours before the dissolution of National Assembly, Shahbaz Sharif said no consensus has so far been evolved over dissolution of national and provincial assemblies on the same day but added that his party was ready to hold talks in this regard.
He said decision in this regard would be taken after an agreement is reached over caretaker PM and CMs.
He also demanded that capable persons enjoying good reputation should be nominated in Sindh and Balochistan instead of the favourites of any political party.
He welcomed the nomination a consensus candidate in Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa and said other provinces should follow the suit.
He said he principally agreed with the idea of holding of NA and provincial assemblies on the same day any decision in this respect would be taken after the issue of caretakers is resolved.
Shabaz said a committee of PML-N leaders had been formed to hold talks with Moulana Fazlur Rehman.
“In case the ruling PPP has a better name to suggest for the caretaker prime minister’s office, we are ready to consider it,” the Punjab CM said.
Shahbaz Sharif said that he is not ready to disband Punjab Assembly on March 19, as their term originally would end on April 8.
All political parties must be taken on board for finalization of caretaker set up in the country and ten key parties must be taken into confidence for Sindh set up, he added.
Shahbaz Sharif confirmed on the occasion that his party has no objection over same day elections of national and all provincial assemblies.
Punjab Chief Minister congratulated Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province for consent on name of caretaker Chief Minister and demanded on the occasion that meritorious and able persons should be picked as interim chief ministers of remaining provinces.
After meeting with Prime Minister Parvez Ashraf, contacted PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif in London for guidance added the PML-N leader, saying polls should be held on same day across the country.
