KARACHI: Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM), clearing the uncertain situation, announced that it plans no strike or protest for today in the metropolis; hence all businesses and educational institutions will open as per their schedule.
It should be mentioned here that the MQM’s Coordination Committee sat simultaneously in Karachi and London under Qamar Mansoor to discuss the issue.
It should be mentioned here that the MQM’s Sialkot District Vice President, Bao Muhammed Anwar, was shot to death while he was standing outside his restaurant located on Shahabpura Road area of the city.
The meeting that lasted for two hours decided that all businesses and commercial activities will continue in the metropolis and public transport will ply on roads as usual.
Muttahida’s main decision-making body also announced that Soyem of Bao Anwar, the slain leader of MQM Sialkot, will be held at Lal Qila Ground Azizabad. Fateha Khwani will be organized in different places of the city.
Meantime, the issue pertinent to the apology from the suspended members of Coordination Committee was not brought under discussion.
Earlier addressing the party workers, party chief Altaf Hussain condemned the killing of MQM office-bearer Bao Muhammed Anwar and called for early arrest of the culprits.
The MQM chief claimed that Anwar was killed in the presence of police.
“Where are Nawaz Sharif, Chaudhry Nisar and IG Punjab? Why don’t they take action?” he questioned, saying that the government also failed to capture killers of Tahira Asif, an MNA of MQM, who was assassinated in Lahore in June this year.
“Our workers and sympathizers are being murdered and their bodies are dumped,” said the MQM chief as he burst into tears while party supporters chanted slogans “Altaf, Altaf” and “Long live Altaf.”
