Pakistan Army has reiterated the determination to root out terrorist from the country at all costs and it will come up to the expectations of the nation through the Zarb e Azb operation. DG ISPR Major Asim Saleem Bajwa has asked Afghan government to take action against TTP leadership present in Afghanistan’s Kunnar and Noorastan provinces or should handover them to Pakistan.
Briefing media and in an interview with a private TV channel, DG ISPR Major Asim Saleem Bajwa said the operation Zarb-e-Azb is aimed at establishing writ o the Government in tribal areas and bring peace in all parts of the country.
He said concrete steps will be taken that the terrorists could not return to these areas after the operation.
He said North Waziristan had become main hideout of the terrorists who used this area for their nefarious resigns and creates law and order situation in the country.
He said the terrorists were used to brain wash suicide attackers in their training centers in North Waziristan. General Bajwa said the operation said the operation against terrorist is in full swing and a large number of terrorists were killed, however some of them managed to flee the area.
He said no terrorist could leave North Waziristan after fifteen of last month. He said security situation in the cleared areas of North Waziristan is satisfactory.
He said that from January to mid of this year total 190 innocent people were killed in terrorist incident throughout the country.
DG ISPR said that the total number of IDPs has cross the figure of over nine hundred thousand but it is being ensured that the registration of IDPs should be made after complete investigation.
The Director General ISPR, Major General Asim Saleem Bajwa said eighty percent area of Miranshah has been cleared from the control of terrorists and the clearance operation is underway successfully.
He said that six more terrorists including their commander Matiullah were killed in the latest activities during clearing operation in Mir Ali. These terrorists were killed in direct battle. Eleven terrorists surrender before the security forces during this operation.
He said that the terrorists are using latest weapons but the Army is determined to wipe out them and clear the area at all costs.
General Bajwa said an Improvised Explosives Device (IED) market was also set up in Miranshah Bazar which has been destroyed.
Giving details of the operation, he said that overall 447 terrorists have been killed in the ongoing operation while their eighty-eight hideouts were destroyed.
He said so far twenty-six jawans of Pakistan army have been embraced martyrdom while eighty got injured.
He said about one thousand families who shifted to Afghanistan, have come back to Pakistan. He said the return of more IDPs is also expected from Afghanistan in future days. He said that the security situation is satisfactory in cleared areas. He said army personnel were given special instructions regarding avoiding collateral damage in the operation. He said that the ground operation was launched in Miramshah after the migration of local people.
He said army chief has cleared said the terrorists would chased everywhere and would be hunted down. He said only air strikes are not enough the ground offensive is also necessary.
He said that the TTP leadership is sitting in Kunnar and Noorastan provinces of Afghanistan, adding that an army officer and three personnel were martyred two days ago in terrorist act. He said Afghan government should take action against the TTP leadership or should handover them to Pakistan. He said patrolling has been increased at the Pak-Afghan border for stopping fleeing of terrorists from Waziristan to Afghanistan.
He said that we all should have to work jointly for overcoming the menace of terrorism, adding that the people should keep eye on the suspects. He said if any citizen sees any suspected activity should inform on universal access number 1135.
